Hello. I'm Vic, a data-led content consultant

I’m a digital content strategist with vast experience in publishing, social media and writing for search. I’ve worked in commercial, public service and non-profit settings. I’m strategic in cross-platform content creation, and love finding actionable routes through analytics that will really make a difference to users and clients. My main subject vertical is food, with experience in other lifestyle genres, health, travel and data visualisation.

Brands I’ve worked with include, most recent first:

Sentient, delicious., Healthy Food Guide, Waitrose & Partners, BBC Good Food, BBC Food, UKTV Food, plus BBC Gardeners’ World, Top Gear and Lonely Planet. I worked on Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Facebook and United Nations accounts while at the awesome Beyond Words Studio.

Outside work? Professional cat botherer, fan of a cold sea swim, lover of a comprehensive cocktail cabinet. I love public art and making cakes (see my Insta).

If you want my full cv, head to LinkedIn. Or here's the compact version.

An English degree got me a job writing about underpants for Freemans catalogue, both in print and online.

Moved to BUPA around 1997 to get some serious writing experience. This included pioneering a health content strategy for their fledgling website.

In 2000 I took a plum job at the BBC, as editor of 'Homes'. Over four years, I commissioned, wrote and edited in food, travel, homes and motoring. Segued over to UKTV to relaunch their cross-platform offer, uktvfood.co.uk.

Back to BBC Worldwide. I launched the landmark site bbcgoodfood.com, many food and natural history apps, worked on major projects with BBC Earth, Lonely Planet and Gardeners' World. I was head of product development for Good Food when I left to join data viz biz Beyond Words Studio in 2015, where I got agency, client and data experience. I spent seven years as head of digital at deliciousmagazine.co.uk, covering content, UX, advertising, social and newsletter strategies, as well as business modelling for subscription packages. I’m freelance now.

Sounding good?

email me a few details, we'll take it from there. Happy to discuss a day rate or project-based rate. Honestly, get in touch, even if it seems random. I’m keen for a mix of work.
